Stayed in January and April 2025, each time 1 night, paid around 85€, which is the average rate including breakfast; rates can vary a lot, depending on the time of the year and if there is a trade fair in Frankfurt or if there is a Hilton Sale
Location
The Hampton by Hilton Frankfurt City Centre East is located at Frankfurt Ost. Nearby the hotel, you will find a train station, U-Bahn connection, a tram connection and a supermarket (Rewe) which is located close by. You can reach the city centre within 10 minutes, the main train station within 15 minutes and the airport in about 25 to 30 minutes. This makes the hotel a good alternative to airport hotels, which can often be expensive. You can easily reach the hotel by public transport from every direction. However, if you travel with a lot of luggage or arrive very late at the airport, it is more convenient to stay at an airport hotel. We recently wrote a review about the Hilton Frankfurt Airport Hotel.
Check-In/Out and staff
The staff at the hotel is friendly and welcoming, and they explain a bit about the hotel and its services during check-in (breakfast, location of elevators, Wi-Fi). This is positive, as often you are new to a hotel and you receive your room key without any additional information. The hotel offers the possibility to check in online through the Hilton App, where you can select your room in advance. However, you still need to visit the reception. The staff will check your ID, and you will receive your room key. After that, you can also request a mobile key, which will be activated within the app.
My elite status (Gold) with Hilton was acknowledged, and I could select two items from the mini market (as I selected this benefit for Hampton instead of the points). There is a choice of sweet or salty snacks and drinks, including a small bottle of beer.
The check-out procedure was friendly and quick, and the hotel will send you the invoice via mail, but I believe you can also ask if they can print it out for you. The only negative point I could mention here is that there is a city tax of 2 €, which I had to pay during check-out. This could have been mentioned during the check-in process to avoid confusion. Please keep in mind that this hotel is cash-free and you can only pay with a card. If you are travelling and prefer to pay in cash, it’s better to prepay the hotel rate to avoid losing out on the currency exchange rate. Then you would only need to pay the city tax upon departure.
Room and Wi-Fi
I booked a standard Room with a Queen Bed. The room offers a decent size, but is not very spacious if you are travelling with two people. It is a typical Hampton Inn Standard Room. The room itself is clean and well-maintained, and the bed is soft and comfortable, and there are two types of pillows that are offered. You will also find a telephone, an alarm clock and reading lights at the bed. The room offers an additional lounge chair, where you can sit and relax, watch TV and a large working desk. This is a bonus, as the newer Hampton Inns only offer a small table below the TV. You will also find tea and coffee facilities, but there is no fridge in the room as in some newer Hampton’s. Overall, for a short stay, the room is comfortable enough and you can get a decent sleep. The signal and speed of the Wi-Fi were average. I had no problems finishing some work and watching some videos.
Bathroom and Amenities
The bathroom offers a walk-in shower of a decent size and good water pressure. The standard toiletries (body wash, shampoo, shower gel) are provided in a dispenser, as well as a tissue box and a hairdryer. There are two large and small towels provided with a face cloth, which is a nice bonus, considering that many hotels of that category do not provide them. There are no other additional items provided, as this is common for the brand.
Food and Beverage
The breakfast at the Hampton by Hilton Frankfurt City Centre East is complimentary for every guest. The breakfast times are from 6:00 am to 10:00 am (during the week) and 6:00 am until 11:00 am on weekends. If you have an early departure, this is very convenient as not all hotels offer a full breakfast buffet from 06:00 am, including weekends.
The breakfast offers a good variety of choices, ranging from hot items (such as scrambled eggs, sausages, and vegetables) to several other options, including bread rolls, croissants, pastries, and waffles. There is a tea station with hot water and several choices of tea, a coffee machine and a machine for juices. You will find a selection of cold cuts, different choices of cheese, salad and vegetables, fruit salad, jam, honey and yoghurt. The quality and the variety are decent. There are also fresh fruits, including bananas, apples or oranges, that you can take. This is a bonus. The breakfast area offers enough seats. However, at certain times, the queue might be longer.
Rating 8.0/10
Overall, the Hampton Frankfurt City Centre East offers good value for money (if you can get a rate around 85-90 Euro). The location is excellent and you can reach the airport within 30 minutes by public transport. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff and the good quality of the breakfast. It is worth considering as an alternative to more expensive airport hotels located at Frankfurt International Airport, if your arrival or departure time is not too late/early. The free breakfast is a great benefit if you’re travelling as a group or as a family with children. Due to its lower price range, we would not recommend using any Hilton Points to redeem them at Hampton Inn, even if they offer low redemption prices below 30,000 points. Usually, this would be poor value; however, if you need to travel, when cash prices are very high (500 Euro), then we would consider redeeming points.
